HornetMail

Southern Polytechnic will be bringing a new e-mail and calendaring system online on January 4th, 2007.  The new HornetMail is based on a Mirapoint Secure Messaging appliance.

This new system offers significant advantages and features:

• Improved spam filtering
• Personal spam white/black lists
• Shared calendaring
• Group calendaring

After the conversion, faculty and staff using Outlook and Eudora from their offices should not see a signficant change in the way they read or send e-mail.  However, the updated HornetMail will have a completely new webmail interface, which is significant for all students, as well as faculty and staff who access their e-mail remotely.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to actually use the new interface until the conversion on 01/04.  If you are interested in seeing and learning about this new interface before then, please visit the online HornetMail tutorial.  (Please note: some minor features mentioned in this tutorial may not be available in the production HornetMail due to licensing, security or technical issues).

After the conversion, please feel free to reference this tutorial while learning the new interface.  There is also extensive context-sensitive help avaialbe from within webmail.
