Outlook Daylight Savings Time 2007 Upgrade Information

Outlook 2000, 2002 (XP) and 2003 users need to upgrade Outlook using the Microsoft-supplied patch in oder for calendar items to function properly after 03/11/2007.

Step 1: backup your data... (These instructions work for Outlook 2003, but should be similar for older versions of Outlook.  If you have difficulty please contact the doIT helpdesk at xHELP)

• Open Outlook
• Under "File" select "Import and Export..."
• Choose "Export to a file"; click Next
• Choose "Personal Folder File (.pst)"; click Next
• Select "Personal Folders"; check the "Include Subfolders" box; click Next
• On the resultant screen, click "Finish"

Step 2: install the patch...

• Follow this link for installation instructions (SPSU does NOT run Microsoft Exchange, so please disregard any references to it)

Your calendar items should now be compatible with future DST time changes.

Handheld/PDA owners please note:

You must check with the manufacturer of your device for DST upgrades.  Calendar items on handhelds which do not properly observe DST data can potentially sync bad data to your Outlook calendar.
