Why a New Visual Identity System?
The new Southern Polytechnic State University visual identity system has been designed to be flexible to accommodate individual departments needs — while building a strong central identity.
Whether you are creating a poster, brochure, or simply sending a letter, it is always part of a larger identity system. And piece by piece, it all adds up to a single, effective impression.
This guide is intended to assist you in properly using the Southern Polytechnic State University identification elements, logo and wordmark. The correct usage of identity elements is key in communicating a clear, consistent message to our many audiences. By using these elements in a cohesive marketing message, the University establishes a brand image that reflects our unique mission and conveys our high standards of academic excellence.
Departments are prohibited from creating individual logos. They distract from a consistent marketing brand. The correct way to add your department or school name to the logo or branding wordmark is outlined herein. Entities affiliated with the University, including self-supported entities, must conform to the requirements of this guide. Self-supported entities affiliated with the University may seek approval of the Marketing Department to use a distinctive wordmark that conforms to the University’s trade dress.
It is essential that these guidelines be followed and that elements, marks, and graphics not be altered in any non-approved ways if our message is to be consistent. All SPSU trademarks are the property of the University System of Georgia and, therefore, will be monitored for correct usage. The Office of Student and Enrollment Services coordinates this function and is responsible for overseeing the administration of all University identification marks. All publications must adhere to the standards outlined in this document.
The Office of Enrollment Services, along with the University’s Marketing Department, is available to provide assistance in using logos, creating publications and advertisements, and answering any questions regarding information provided herein. For questions regarding the logo, wordmark, publications, or advertising, please contact Laina Pond at 678-915-7456 (lpond@spsu.edu).
