“The point of this email is not to show how bright the sun is shining in my world, but rather, point out the tremendous role and difference this MSIDC program has made in my professional career and development. Yes, I am a hard worker, highly organized and have a good reputation in the business circles in which I run; however, I can say without hesitation that if it were not for the knowledge that I am learning from the courses and fantastic professors at SPSU, I would still be driving 20,000 miles a year doing mindless sales work.”

“I inadvertently came across the Master of Science in Information Design and Communication program at Southern Polytechnic. My original plan was to attend Auburn University , but when I read about Southern Polytechnic's program, I knew I had to modify my educational goals. The program I am in is exactly the kind of graduate program I had hoped to find, and I am eager to learn from and excel in all of my classes.”

“One of the fundamental roles a teacher is to communicate with customers (students and parents). I use my skills developed at SPSU everyday in instruction, curriculum design, and technology. It is a wonderful degree to synthesize all critical communication skills needed in teaching.”

"My experience at Southern Polytechnic State University was life changing. From the moment I entered the TCOM program positive things started happening as a result of SPSU's awesome reputation. A big thank you to the staff and professors for making my life's dreams possible!"

"Well, I did accomplish this initial goal but the other impacts to my life have been amazing. First of all, the projects I've completed, courses I have taken, papers I have written, research completed, and new software tools I have learned have given me (at age 50) an amazing sense of self confidence that I lacked before. This confidence has spilled over into my work life and I've taken on new projects and roles. People have seen the impact of my work in my project management, information design, team problem solving skills, and oral presentation skills. I am now a full time technical writer/documentation specialist by my own choice. I am providing input into process changes and standardized procedures that will have a long term positive effect on the local Aeronautics company and other areas of Lockheed Martin.
Second, I thought at SPSU I would learn only about technical writing but I learned about: multimedia, rhetoric, oral presentations, website design, usability testing, online documentation, professional editing, and so much more. It has been an amazing experience - really! I feel so privileged to have benefited from this great education.
Finally, since I have been involved with volunteer work most of my life, I can now use these new information design skills to further the good of the community. I have usually fed the homeless, refurbished homes, collected toys and all sorts of other important things. But in addition, I feel like now I am playing a role in public relations and communication and am using my skills as a technical communicator for the greater good of my local community. I plan on working with some other students at SPSU to try to do a better job promoting SPSU because . . .. [i]t's a little gem that not enough people know about."
