Herb J. Smith is Associate Professor
of English at Southern Polytechnic State University, where he is currently the Director of Technical and Professional
Communication programs. Dr. Smith has been teaching
technical and professional communication for 19 years. He was
Gastprofessur of Technical Writing (Spring 1998) at Fachhochschule
Merseburg, Germany, and was principal author of a National Science
Foundation grant. He currently reviews articles for Technical
Communication Quarterly and has published widely in most of the major
technical communication journals.
