WEBMASTER (Strategic Marketing & Sustainability Initiatives)                                                                                  09–366

POSITION SUMMARY

This is an exempt position where the Webmaster is responsible for helping the University make progress toward strategic goals through its web presence.  The position reports to the Executive Director of Marketing and Sustainability, housed in the President's Office, and works with all segments of the University to ensure that the University's website is current, consistent, usable, and meets the demands of the many target audiences, including prospective and current students.  The Webmaster collaborates with the SPSU Web Oversight Committee to develop policy and guidelines and to ensure continuous improvement.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.       Continuously assess and enhance SPSU web presence, including its visual design, site architecture, usability, and dynamic content management system.

2.       In collaboration with the SPSU Web Oversight Committee, develop SPSU website policies, work flow processes, and style guide.

3.       Ensure and enable compliance with policies, processes, and the style guide through training and consultation with faculty and staff.

4.       Create user-centered website structures and interfaces.

5.       Monitor industry trends, incorporate best practices, and recommend improvements.

6.       Ensure SPSU website meets all University System of Georgia, state, and federal regulations, including accessibility and information security standards.

7.       Serve as liaison with any web-related vendors.

 8.    Assist the Executive Director with other duties as assigned.

  

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  1. Demonstrable, extensive knowledge of advanced web technologies.

2.  Demonstrable, extensive knowledge of content management concepts and experience with at least one CMS.

3.   Solid understanding of information architecture, usability principles, and search engine optimization.

 

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

1.       The ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, administrators, and staff.

2.       Strong written and oral communication skills.

3.        Ability to work in a team environment and interact in a helpful, positive manner with individuals of varying technical backgrounds.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.  Evidence of experience in design and/or maintenance of a large website, as demonstrated in a portfolio of previous work.  Must be willing and able to work nights and weekends.

 

DAYS/HOURS: Summer hours: Monday – Thursday; 7:30am – 6:00pm; Friday; CLOSED

                           Regular hours: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm (Regular hours will resume on: 8/3/09)

 

SALARY:           $51,172 - $68,228
