TRANSFER ENROLLMENT COUNSELOR (Recruitment)                                             08–292

POSITION SUMMARY

This is an exempt position where the Transfer Enrollment Counselor represents and interprets Southern Polytechnic State University accurately and persuasively to prospective transfer students and families, and to greet all visitors to the Welcome Center and refer appropriately. The Transfer Enrollment Counselor reports to the Associate Director of Student Recruitment.   

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.       Participates in PROBE and other College Fairs, primarily transfer-related, by traveling to points in Georgia to where organized programs are attended by a number of colleges and universities, each presenting their academic and extracurricular offerings to prospective students.

2.       Assists with evaluation of transfer credit.

3.       Visits assigned two-year colleges to promote transfer program.

4.       Meets with prospective students and their families on campus, gives occasional tours, and maintains follow-up contact.

5.       Answers inquiries (in person, writing, and telecommunication) and maintains routine correspondence with prospective students.

6.       Assists in the development of on-campus events related to the recruitment effort, i.e., Open House and orientation.

7.       Staffs the Welcome Center, greeting guests, answering phones, referring when appropriate.

8.       Assists with special recruitment projects as assigned.

9.       Performs other duties as assigned.

 

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

1.       Possess a high level of interpersonal skill, knowledge of college recruiting and counseling procedures (including understanding of related ethics), excellent computer skills, proficiency in written and oral communication, outstanding organization ability.

2.       Friendly, courteous and helpful demeanor.

3.       Excellent office etiquette.

4.       Ability to work independently.

5.       Ability to comprehend and disseminate information quickly.

6.       Skill in the operation of a computer terminal and telephone system.

7.       Record of exemplary attendance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree is required. Previous experience in admissions, as well as involvement with professional organizations. The candidate of this position is expected to represent Southern Polytechnic State University 24 hours per day when traveling and to be available for extended hours during peak times. The candidate is expected to have a valid driver’s license and reasonable transportation. Experience in a university setting is a plus.

 

DAYS/HOURS: Monday-Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm; Occasional extended hours may be required.

 

SALARY:           Commensurate with experience
