TEMPORARY ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (Industrial Engineering Technology)

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a non-exempt position that provides overall administrative support to the Department of Industrial Engineering Technology. The Temporary Administrative Assistant is responsible for interpretations of routine policies, rules and regulations, budgetary support, recording data, public information, making appointments and arrangements, work requests, correspondence and memoranda. The individual works within a general outline of duties performed; develops work methods and sequences under general supervision. The Administrative Assistant reports to the Department Chair in the Industrial Engineering Technology department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provides administrative and secretarial support to the department.

2. Answers phone, greets, and directs visitors.

3. Performs other duties as assigned.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

1. Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures.

2. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and public constituents.

3. Considerable knowledge of the Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, etc).

QUALIFICATIONS: A High School graduate with a minimum of two years experience in an administrative/secretarial capacity required. Associate degree, business/vocational technical degree, or specialized training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education with emphasis in secretarial duties or a closely related field preferred. Experience in a college/university setting preferred.

DAYS/HOURS: Monday – Wednesday; 8:00am – 5:00pm

SALARY: $12.00/hr.
