POSITION SUMMARY

L.V. Johnson Library seeks a well-qualified, innovative and energetic Head of Reference and Research Librarian to organize, manage, teach and promote reference databases and services including Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and Outreach. The position coordinates reference desk schedules and is accountable to the Library Director. This 12-month, full-time position holds faculty status and is non-tenured. Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU) in Marietta, Georgia is a member of the University System of Georgia and this residential campus serves nearly 5000 under-graduate and graduate students.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Masters' Degree in Library and Information Studies from an ALA accredited Library program, minimally. Holding a second Masters' or higher degree is an asset to the position & the University. Four or more years of public service / administrative experience in an academic library setting or in related instruction; excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Leadership in performance of supervision & reference duties; Extensive research skills for consultations with patrons using technology; Skill in preparing instruction content, teaching and evaluating the Outreach Program.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience
