POSITION SUMMARY

Southern Polytechnic State University invites applications for a full-time faculty position as a lecturer, beginning the Fall semester of 2008. Other ranks will be considered.  SPSU is a member institution in the University System of Georgia, offering degrees in science and technology related programs, including Bachelor's degrees in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.  Southern Polytechnic is located about 20 minutes northwest of Atlanta, Georgia in the historic city of Marietta.  See http://www.spsu.edu for more information.  This position is open until filled; Applicants who are not U.S. citizens must state visa type and authorization for permanent employment in the U.S. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have a minimum of a M.S. degree in Physics or closely related field; previously documented teaching experience is preferred.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach standard introductory calculus-based and non-calculus-based sequences as well as associated labs and recitations. 

SALARY: Commensurate with experience

As part of the interview process, the search committee will ask the candidate to present a lecture that is comprehensible to students in an introductory physics course. The hiring committee will consider feedback from both students and faculty.
