POSITION SUMMARY                                                                                                                              

The Social and International Studies Department at Southern Polytechnic State University (www.spsu.edu), invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in History (non-tenured) beginning August 15, 2008. This is a continuous teaching position, with a teaching load of 15 credit hours per semester. Teaching responsibilities will consist of courses in all periods of World and U.S. history in our core curriculum, the International Studies minor and in our International Studies major. SPSU is a member institution in the University System of Georgia, located 20 minutes northwest of downtown Atlanta, in the historic city of Marietta.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications required include an M.A. or higher in History. Preference will be given to candidates providing evidence of demonstrated college level teaching experience in World History survey courses (Ancient, Medieval, and Modern) early and modern American history, as well as the ability to teach core courses in a second social science discipline (e.g. Anthropology, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, etc – requires 18 graduate semester hours completed in the secondary discipline). Computer skills, including the ability to develop and offer web-based courses, are a plus.

 

 

SALARY:       Commensurate with experience
