HEAD ATHLETIC TRAINER (Athletics)                                                                              08–304

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Head Athletic Trainer position is a 12 month position.  The Head Trainer will work closely with the athletic coaching staff and directly under the Athletic Director.  The position will oversee the prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and doctor referrals of all athletic injuries. This position will also oversee the general management of the athletic training facility and general athletic office management.  The Head Trainer must be a motivated individual who will bring leadership, enthusiasm, and a desire to contribute to all areas of the program and University.  The position is responsible for but not limited to the following:

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Assessing athletic injuries.
  2. Ordering supplies and maintaining inventory for training room and athletic department.
  3. Attending home athletic contests and practices (evening and weekend work required).
  4. Filing insurance claims.
  5. Setting up rehabilitation protocols for injuries.
  6. Maintaining routine preventive injury measures (taping, modalities, education, etc.).
  7. Maintaining departmental files.
  8. Scheduling doctor appointments.

 

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

  1. Strong organizational skills.
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  3. Updated on current NATA guidelines and acceptable practices.
  4. Working knowledge in MS Word, Publisher and Excel.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor degree in Athletic Training or related field and one to two years experience in athletic training required or master’s degree preferred. Must be National Athletic Trainers Association Certified and have a Georgia License for Athletic Training and must possess strong organizational skills.

 

 

DAYS/HOURS: Will vary.
