CUSTODIAN I (Facilities Services) (2 positions) 08–224 & 08–225

This is routine manual work in the performance of a variety of cleaning and related duties performed in and around university buildings. Supervision is received from a superior who checks work for adherence to established practices and schedules. Employees of this class may act as a lead person and may exercise limited supervision over other custodial personnel engaged in the performance of routine cleaning duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Mops, waxes, scrubs, buffs, and strips floor, vacuums carpet; dusts and polishes furniture in halls and offices, washes windows.
2. Clean restrooms, walls, baseboards, water fountains and replenish supplies.
3. Collects and moves bulk quantities of trash and debris; moves large trash containers in and out of university buildings.
4. Orders materials for stocking custodian closets.
5. Delivers, receives, and transports miscellaneous supplies, and goods to various buildings on campus.
6. Performs minor maintenance on glass windows, doors, electrical switches, Venetian blinds, fans, and other building equipment.
7. Operates various types of cleaning machinery.
8. Moves office and dormitory furniture and equipment.
9. Reports damaged structures and equipment.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
1. Considerable knowledge of the use and care of a variety of cleaning equipment.
2. Ability to plan and organize routine work details.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from High School or equivalent; must have experience in cleaning and maintaining floors and carpet. Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license; prefer custodial and supervisory experience in related field. Must be able to perform physical duties of the position.
DAYS/HOURS: Monday – Friday; 6:00am – 2:30pm
Occasional extended hours may be required.
SALARY: $8.06/hr
