COORDINATOR of RESIDENCE LIFE (Auxiliary Services) 08–305

This is a professional position where the Coordinator of Residence Life is responsible for providing 24/7 leadership to the residence life programming, either directly or through the resident assistants. Responsible for coordinating residence life programming with other programming units on campus, i.e., student activities, recreation and wellness, etc. This is a twelve-month, full-time, live-on campus position. Utilities and cable television are provided. The Coordinator of Residence Life reports to the Director of Housing and Residence Life.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provides leadership for on campus residential areas.
2. Serves primarily in the roles of supervisor, educator, counselor and administrator.
3. Shares the responsibility for developing and maintaining residential communities that facilitate student growth and development.
4. Creates a residential environment that contributes to the total development of each individual.
5. Attend/evaluate programs and events that enrich co-curricular life and involve faculty, staff and administrators in the living-learning experiences.
6. Selects, trains, supervises, develops and evaluates the Resident Assistants.
7. Handles disciplinary hearings.
8. Makes referrals concerning personal and academic counseling needs to appropriate university departments.
9. Administers programming budget for area.
10. Assists other Department of Housing and Residence Life staff with room assignments and opening/closing processes.
11. Works with Assistant Director for Operations in facilitating inspections and assessing damages.
12. Working knowledge of Banner and RMS software package.
13. It is a requirement for this position to live on campus in living accommodations provided by the University which includes utilities and cable television.
14. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Housing and Residence Life.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
1. Excellent computer skills and ability to master housing software.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelors degree in higher education administration or a related field plus a minimum of two years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. A master’s degree in higher education administration or a related field preferred. Previous experience in Residence Life within a college / University setting strongly desired.
DAYS/HOURS: Summer Hours: Monday – Thursday; 7:30am – 6:00pm; Friday - CLOSED
Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm (Regular Hours Effective: 8/11/08)
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
