POSITION SUMMARY
The Construction Management Department at Southern Polytechnic State University invites applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer position for Fall semester beginning August 16, 2010; other ranks considered. Southern Polytechnic State University is part of the University System of Georgia (USA). It offers masters, bachelors, associates degrees, and certificates. It has approximately 5,200 students enrolled, including that of ACC School (Architecture, Civil Engineering Technology, and Construction). It is located in Marietta, Georgia, approximately 15 miles NW of the center of rapidly growing metro Atlanta, whose population is now approximately 4.5 million.
The department offers an ACCE-accredited Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree. The department enrolls approximately 425 students in the four-year Bachelors degree program and 100 students in the masters and other programs. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications for the position a master’s degree is mandatory and Ph.D. is preferred. The degrees should be in Construction Management/Engineering/Land Development or a closely related field and a minimum of 3 years experience in the US construction industry. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and demonstrate expertise in two of the following areas, land development, construction project management, scheduling and estimating. Candidates must demonstrate competence in the use of written and oral communications. A background in construction management or real estate development will be regarded favorably, and expertise in site planning, development planning and process, feasibility study and market analysis, project management and scheduling with an interest in developing research in any one or more of the specified areas is desirable. The selection process will place emphasis on the applicants’ potential for contributions in teaching, scholarship, and service. Preference will be given to candidates with professional experience, university-level teaching experience, experience and/or education in the preferred areas. Successful candidates are expected to teach undergraduate courses.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
