POSITION SUMMARY
The Construction Management Department at Southern Polytechnic State University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position; other ranks considered, beginning August 2008. Southern Polytechnic State University is part of the University System of Georgia (USA). It offers masters, bachelors, associates degrees, and certificates. It is located in Marietta, Georgia approximately 15 miles NW of the center of rapidly growing metro Atlanta whose population is now approximately 4.5 million. The department offers an ACCE-accredited Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree. The department enrolls approximately 450 students in the four-year Bachelors degree program and 40 in the masters program (2006). QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications for the position a master’s degree is mandatory and Ph.D. is preferred. The degrees should be in Construction Management/Engineering/Law/Land Development or a closely related field and a minimum of 3 years experience in the US construction industry. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and demonstrate expertise in two of the following areas- land development, construction law, construction project management, scheduling and estimating. Candidates must demonstrate competence in the use of written and oral communications. A background in construction management or real estate will be regarded favorably, and expertise in site planning, development planning and process, feasibility study and market analysis, dispute resolutions, project management and construction contracts with an interest in developing research in this area is desirable. The selection process will place emphasis on the applicants’ potential for contributions in teaching, scholarship, and service. Preference will be given to candidates with professional registration and/or doctoral degree, university-level teaching experience, experience and/or education in the preferred areas. Successful candidates are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
