POSITION SUMMARY
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) at Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU) in Marietta, Georgia invites applications for a tenure track position beginning August 2010. Information regarding Southern Polytechnic State University can be found at http://www.spsu.edu and information about the ECET Department at http://ecet.spsu.edu/home/Main/Main-Page.php The ECET Department offers TAC/ABET accredited BS degrees in Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, and Telecommunications Engineering Technology. A Master of Science degree in Engineering Technology with an Electrical Concentration is also offered.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates must have a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical or Computer Engineering Technology, or a relevant field. A Ph.D. degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and Professional Electrical Engineering Registration (PE/EE) is preferred. Prior teaching experience is also preferred. Candidates should have a strong background in Electrical Power Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Power Systems Analysis, Power Electronics, or NEC practice; be committed to undergraduate education; and have the ability to develop a program of scholarship. All candidates must have at least three (3) years of relevant industrial experience. Candidates should be able to teach lecture and laboratory courses mainly in Electrical Power Engineering Technology and one or more of the following areas: Electrical Circuits, Analog and Digital Electronics, Digital/Embedded Systems, Controls, and Telecommunications Electronics/Networking. The successful candidate is expected to advise ECET students, serve on department/college/university committees, and do volunteer service for the electrical/computer profession and the community. Candidates are also expected to have excellent communication skills, and to participate in scholarly activities such as present and publish papers in professional journals and conferences, and write grant proposals.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
