ASSISTANT DIRECTOR for HOUSING AND RESIDENCE LIFE (Auxiliary Services) 08–302

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a professional position where the Assistant Director for Housing and Residence Life is Responsible for overseeing the daily operation for all on-campus residential communities. Responsible for long-range planning, coordinating service providers, facilitating problem resolutions and analyzing the processes and improvements. The Assistant Director for Housing and Residence Life reports to the Director of Housing and Residence Life.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.           Serves as the primary liaison with Facilities to ensure that the housing units are properly maintained and cleaned.

2.         Works with the Residence Life Coordinator and Resident Assistants to develop room, hall and unit facilities checklist and to ensure proper inspections are done on a timely basis.

3.         Implements the opening and closing processes for the residential facilities.

4.         Manages the room assignment process.

5.         Manages and responds to the facilities related questions from students and coordinates requests concerning furnishings, equipment, carpet, window coverings and various supplies.

6.         Maintains an inventory of all student housing furnishings and property.

7.         Works with Division of IT to maintain proper working condition for residential wireless and other networks.

8.         Assists Director of Housing and Residence Life in developing and coordinating long and short-term plans for renovations and refurbishment of existing and acquired facilities.  Assists in the implementation of these plans and directly implement projects as assigned.

9.         Working knowledge of Banner and RMS software package.

10.        Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Housing and Residence Life.

 

 

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

1.         Excellent computer skills and ability to master software applications.

2.         Excellent budgetary skills.

3.         Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelors degree in higher education administration or a related field plus a minimum of two years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.  A master’s degree in higher education administration or a related field preferred.  Previous experience in Residence Life within a college / University setting with a through understanding of Student Housing and Residence Life strongly desired.

 

 

DAYS/HOURS: Summer Hours: Monday – Thursday; 7:30am – 6:00pm; Friday - CLOSED

                           Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm (Regular Hours Effective: 8/11/08)

 

 

SALARY:           Commensurate with experience
