How do I apply for on-campus housing for my student?

Students applying for housing must complete the application On-line themselves.


How do we pay for housing?

Can I get my student’s Housing information over the phone?

The information on your student’s Housing Account is confidential and treated so. Any information on the account CANNOT be given to the parent’s or legal guardian without a FERPA release form on file. This is a University System of Georgia Law for Universities in the USG. You may complete this form by printing out the FERPA Form, and presenting this at move for us to keep on file.


My student is an older First Year Freshmen, does he/she have to live in a Residence Hall?

First-Year Freshman who are 20-years of age or older, must pick a space in either our on-campus apartments or suites. All traditional First-year freshmen who are 19-years of age or younger are required to live in our First-Year Residence Halls (Howell or Hornet Village).


Is there a deadline to apply for student housing?

No, there is no deadline to apply for on-campus housing. We accept housing applications on an ongoing basis throughout the year. Contracts are offered on a first come first serve basis. However, there is a priority deadline that we recommend that all students apply by,


When will I know where my student has been assigned?

You will know your room assignment as soon as your space is selected if you are an upperclassman moving to the on-campus Apartments or Suites. All incoming freshman will be emailed room assignments in August for the upcoming fall semester.


How are the assignments made?

Assignments are made based upon date priority and compatibility when possible.


When does my student move in?

Move-in is typically scheduled no more than 3-days prior to the start of each semester (Fall, Spring, Summer). Students will receive email notifications regarding the move-in process.


When do we have to pay for housing?

Housing and meal plan costs are due in full by the tuition deadline at the beginning of each semester, along with tuition and fees.


Can my student have a vehicle on campus?

Yes, Residents are permitted to have vehicles on-campus. All Residents must obtain a parking decal from the Parking Office located in the lower level of the Joe Mack Student Center. There are designated parking areas for on-campus Residents.


Does my student have to purchase a meal plan if he/she lives on campus?

Yes, there is a meal plan requirement for all Residents who live in the Residence Halls and Suites. Apartment Residents are not required to purchase a meal plan, but there are several great options available to them.


What is included in the housing payments?

  • All utilities (heat, electric, water)
  • Cable TV
  • High Speed Internet Service
  • Use of Residence Hall facilities (lounge areas, study rooms, community space)

Can my student live in his/her room during the times the university is not operating (i.e. Spring Break, Winter Break, Summer Break)?

Residence Halls are open over the spring break and closed for winter and summer breaks. Students are required to vacate at the end of the spring semester. There is housing available to those students moving out of the Residence Halls over the summer in our campus suites at an additional cost.

Suites are open over the spring and winter breaks and closed summer breaks. All Students living in the Suites are required to vacate at the end of the spring semester. Summer housing is available at an additional cost.

Apartment contracts run through Fall, Spring and Summer. Students who do not reserve their same space for the upcoming semester(s) will be required to vacate at the end of the summer semester. Apartment Residents cannot terminate their housing contracts over the summer.


How can I send mail to my student?

Mailboxes will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. If your student would like a mailbox they will need to sign up in the University Post Office, located on the lower level of the Joe Mack Student Center.


Can my student bring their own furniture?

No. The rooms are furnished. The rooms in the residence halls and Hornet Village Suites come furnished with a bed, mattress, desk, chair, drawers (in the suites) and a closet (in the Suites). The apartments come furnished with all the above items and a full kitchen equipped with a washer/dryer, dishwasher, stove, microwave and refrigerator. What size are the beds in the rooms?

The beds in the Residence Halls, Special Interest Houses and the Hornet Village Suites are twin extra long beds. The beds in the apartments are full size beds.
