Honors Capstone and Thesis Proposal Information

All Honors students must write a thesis or a capstone paper.  They must also take part in the poster presentation.  Please follow the link to Honors Thesis and Capstone Paper Guidelines.

Option 1: Honors Thesis

Each department may assign an Honors Thesis as the Capstone Project for their major fields. If a department does so, it must follow the guidelines for the course as outlined in the Honors Thesis Proposal.

Departments that have indicated that they will use the Honors Thesis option:

  • Biology
  • Business Administration and Accounting
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • English and Professional Communication
  • Information Technology
  • New Media Arts
  • Physics
  • Software Engineering
  • Technical Communication

Option 2: Honors Departmental Capstone

The other option for each department is to create an Honors Capstone Course within the major fields. Please use the following documents to help you to create a Departmental Honors Capstone Course:

The following links are for proposals that have already been approved:

* The ECET program allows students to turn regular ECET capstone classes into Honors classes with the addition of a project, paper, and poster presentation.  It also allows students to contact the department to arrange a 4000-level Special Topics Honors Capstone class in which students must complete a project, paper, and poster presentation.
