Location
As Georgia's technology university, it only makes sense that Southern Polytechnic should be at
the heart of all that's happening in Atlanta. Our location in Marietta, Georgia, puts us in touch
with all of the latest happenings -- and all of the comforts of life in the suburbs.
So close to everything
Southern Polytechnic is approximately a 15-minute drive from downtown Atlanta, where our students
take in Braves baseball at Turner Field or a Hawks or Thrashers game at Philips Arena. The fine
arts abound at local theaters and museums, in addition to well-known venues such as the Fox
Theatre or the High Museum. And a string of parks such as Centennial Olympic Park and Stone
Mountain provide avenues for picnicking and hiking.
At night, there's all the excitement of the club scene in Buckhead, Virginia Highlands, and
Midtown, and the weekend provides time for trolling the shops in Little Five Points or one of
the many Metro Area malls.
Of course, Atlanta holds a Mecca of professional opportunities for students. Our students intern
and co-op at small firms and major corporations headquartered in Atlanta and the outlying suburbs.
Many companies located in Atlanta recruit Southern Polytechnic students upon graduation.
But not too close
Being located in Marietta, the Southern Polytechnic community enjoys affordable housing, excellent
school systems, and many family- and community-oriented amenities. The campus is located near
downtown Marietta, an historic district with privately owned shops, restaurants, and businesses.
Families enjoy spending summer evenings at concerts in the Marietta Square and attending local
playhouses.
