Master of Science in Information Technology
The demand for information technology specialists is one of the region's fastest growing needs.
Almost as great is the need for professional degrees in the information technology field. That's
what makes the information technology program at SPSU so attractive -- our program is designed
to meet current demands in the field, so that you're qualified to not only get a job in
information technology, but a great one.
Our program emphasizes the management and performance of information systems planning, development,
implementation, and orientation. Jointly administered by the Department of Computer Science and
the School of Management, the program requires students to satisfy prerequisites in business
administration. Admitted students are expected to have taken courses in management and
organizational behavior, statistics, production operations management, accounting, finance, law,
marketing principles, economics, computer programming, databases, and advanced programming.
Although the program does require a significant background in business, students who do not meet
these requirements may take graduate transition courses, undergraduate courses or advanced
standing exams to satisfy these requirements. These courses do not count towards the 36-hour
graduate course requirements for graduation.
