Nontraditional students
Nontraditional/adult admission
Applicants who have not attended high school or college within the previous five years and have
earned fewer than 30 transferable semester hours (45 quarter hours) and who hold a high school diploma or have
completed the GED satisfactorily may be classified as non-traditional applicants. Non-traditional
applicants are exempt from the SAT I/ACT requirements and from the CPC requirements.
These students will be required to take the Compass Exam and score 74 on the Reading, 60 on the Writing, and 37 on the Algebra exams.
Post-baccalaureate/non-degree applicants
Students who hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college and who wish to attend classes
at Southern Poly but are not seeking a degree should request an official transcript from the
institution where the bachelor's degree was earned.
Individuals enrolled as post-baccalaureate students are eligible to take undergraduate level
courses only. Students admitted under this category who later decide to pursue a degree must
furnish official transcripts from all colleges attended and meet transfer
admission requirements.
Readmission
Students who are absent from Southern Polytechnic for two or more consecutive semesters and who
are not suspended must be approved by the Records Office for readmission before they can register
for classes. Any student who has been suspended must seek reinstatement before being able to
register. Students granted readmission must re-enter the same academic department in which they
were last enrolled.
Applications for readmission and all supporting documents are due by August 1 for the fall
semester, December 1 for the spring semester and May 1 for the summer semester.
Undergraduate certificate program admissions requirements
Applicants applying for undergraduate certificate programs must meet the same requirements as degree seekers.
