The Apparel Textile Technology program
Why study Apparel Textile Technology at SPSU?
Southern Polytechnic State University is one of only a few universities in the country to offer the Apparel Textile Technology program. That means high demand for graduates in the marketplace.
When you combine that demand with the learning atmosphere at SPSU -- small classes, personal attention, interaction between faculty and students, and research and laboratory work -- it is easy to see why employers recruit our graduates. Not only have they received a unique education, they have received an education of superior quality.
The faculty
The faculty of the Apparel Textile Technology program have years of experience in the industry and teaching in the program. Areas of expertise include senior-level management, fabric design and construction, government regulations, manufacturing management, program management, industrial engineering, government research contracts, and apparel and textile consulting for private institutions.
Are there learning opportunities outside the classroom?
The array of career direction the program provides offers interested students the opportunity to co-op, intern, or work part-time. Students gain valuable experience in many aspects of the industry when they participate in these work programs.
What can I do with an apparel textile degree?
The program prepares students to enter the dynamic fashion/apparel industry in such challenging positions as product development, technical design, marketing, international sourcing, project management and merchandising.
Will I find employment?
Most graduates find employment upon graduation from the program. Initially, students accept employment with firms like Nike, Hartmarx, Oxford Industries, JC Penney, Russell Sportswear and Vanity Fair.
