The International Studies program
Why study International Studies at SPSU?
As Georgia corporations expand their presence abroad, they seek employees educated in all the
issues -- political, economic, cultural, and technical -- which affect international business.
Our new Bachelor of Science program in International Studies combines this knowledge with a
hands-on understanding of global technology. Southern Polytechnic State University is educating
workers for the 21st century marketplace, in a program that is unique nationwide.
About the program
Students can pursue a bachelor's degree in International Studies full or part time.
Specializations are available in Computer Science, Engineering Technology, Technical
Communication, Construction, and general Technology.
The faculty
Our classes are led by experienced, dedicated faculty -- no graduate students or teaching
assistants. Teaching is top priority, and classes are small to allow more one-on-one interactions
between teachers and students.
Are there learning opportunities outside the classroom?
Students may earn academic credit for internships with Atlanta area employers. Many global
companies are headquartered in Georgia, a leading exporter in the country's fastest growing region.
What can I do with an International Studies degree?
International studies graduates are prepared to embark upon careers in international business,
travel, transportation, government, public policy, and the military.
Will I find employment?
In a 2001 survey of senior Fortune 500 executives rating the best cities to locate
technology-related businesses, Atlanta ranks second. On top of that, many international
companies have chose Atlanta for their regional headquarters. So you will not only find a job,
you'll find a great one.
