The Computer Engineering Technology program

Why study Computer Engineering Technology at SPSU?
Computer engineering technology students at Southern Polytechnic receive an education that covers all aspects of the field and thoroughly prepares them to enter the work force or a graduate program. We help students develop a specialized knowledge of computers and control systems and solve industrial problems relating to robotics, control, instrumentation, monitoring, data communications, networks, and automated testing.

About the program
The degree program in Computer Engineering Technology utilizes a core of mathematics, physics, and courses in digital, circuit, and electrical design to provide the scientific and technical background needed for an in-depth study of the hardware and software aspects of computers and their systems. The program emphasizes the use of microcomputers for hands-on application of learned principles and theories.

The faculty
Our well-rounded faculty represents a variety of professional interests, including research, consulting, and business application. They are some of the best in the field, and are constantly working to teach students the most cutting edge techniques and emerging technologies.

Are there learning opportunities outside the classroom?
Computer engineering technology students are encouraged to intern and co-op while they attend SPSU. For their convenience, the Computer Engineering Technology department has set up a job search web site that lists employment opportunities for SPSU students.

What can I do with a Computer Engineering Technology degree?
Graduates of the Computer Engineering Technology program are qualified for employment as engineering technologists with companies that use computers for computation and control activities as well as companies that design, manufacture, market, install, and service computers and computer networks.

Will I find employment?
As the major metropolitan area of the South, Atlanta serves as headquarters for many corporations. Southern Poly students have ample employment, internship, and co-op opportunities available in the city and the surrounding suburbs.
