Future City National and Georgia Regional provide support to our Educators, Mentors, Judges and Volunteers in the form of Handbooks, Workshops and Webinars.

All Workshops are free of charge unless otherwise noted and are held on the SPSU campus.All our workshops are taped and available on-line approximately 2 weeks after the initial in-person workshop offering.

Want to know how to lead a successful competition team? Then attend this teachers overview workshop with Cindy Sabula. Ms. Sabula is a legacy Future City Teacher who lead her Queen of Angels teams to regional victory and on to nationals three years in a row. Her seminar provides basic information about the competition components and rubrics (Virtual City Design, Research Essay, City Narrative, Scale Model and Presentation). She also discusses organization options for Future City, provides tips for success and answers your questions about the Educator sponsor role.
Please note that while this Workshop is structured for Eduators, Mentors are always welcome to attend.

This online webinar sponsored by FC National is open to educators, students and mentors. It will feature the following speakers: Brian Marengo, Global Technology Leader for Watershed Services at CH2M HILL and Richard Zambuni, Global Marketing Director, Geospatial & Utilities, Bentley Systems, Inc. FC National will send out a newsletter to the teachers to remind them of the date/time for the webinar. This webinar will also be recorded and posted on the FC National Website Resource page for those who cannot attend the webinar.
RESEARCH AND WRITE THE ESSAYS

This 6-hour Workshop for students follows a process of design, research, write and edit to teach students the basic skills they will need to write a Research Essay and develop the City Narrative.

PLAN AND BUILD THE MODEL
Aug. 18, 2012 9:30am- 12:30pm
DESIGN II AUDITORIUM, Bldg. I-2 DESIGN II BUILDING, SPSU
This 4-hour workshop will introduce students to basic modeling making skills such
as measuring, scaling, and constructing basic proportional models from found materials.
This will serve as an introduction to the relative sizes of humans and the environments
which they inhabit, so that in January their competition models will more realistically and believably depict the relationships
of humans and built space.
Please note that while this Workshop is structured for Students, Educators and Mentors
are always welcome to attend.
PLAN AND DELIVER THE PRESENTATION

This 6-hour workshop for students places students in teams to plan and deliver a presentation. The presentations will be video-taped and critiqued and the team will have an opportunity to make improvements and deliver their improved presentation.

This 1 hour workshop provides and orientation to the FUTURE CITY competition and the procedures for evaluating competition teams for Society and Special Awards. Criteria and rubrics are specific to each Award.
