Scholarship and Grant
If you complete an Electronic HOPE
Application online please notify us Financial_aid@spsu.edu.
Georgia's HOPE program provides scholarship and grant
assistance to legal residents of Georgia attending eligibile Georgia
post-secondary institutions. To be eligible for a HOPE scholarship in a
degree program as an entering freshman a student must meet Georgia
residency requirements, meet citizenship requirements, be registered
with Selective Service if required, be a 1993 or later graduate of an
eligible high school, and be classified as a FINAL HOPE SCHOLAR.
Students graduating from high school prior to 1993 or students who were
not academically eligible immediately are eligible after high school
graduation may be eligible for a HOPE scholarship after attempting 30,
60, or 90 semester hours, if a 3.0 cummulative grade point average is
earned. All legal residents of Georgia who meet HOPE eligibility
requirements may receive a HOPE grant to seek a technical certificate
that is awarded and issued by the institution and approved by the Board
of Regents.
To continue to receive HOPE,
both scholarship and grant students must maintain satisfactory academic
progress. Scholarship students must have a cummulative grade point
average of at least a 3.0 at the 30, 60, 90 attempted semester hour
checkpoints. It is important to remember that attempted hours generally
include all credit hours attempted after high school graduation, as
well as hours from which the student withdrew after the official
drop/add period. Additionally, scholarship students may not receive
HOPE for more than 127 semester hours. Grant students must be taking
courses that are in their stated certificate program of study.
