Federal
Work Study
Federal Work Study Program
Federal Work Study is very similar to a regular
job. Under the
FWS Program, schools provide jobs on-campus and off-campus for needy
undergraduate and graduate students. Students are awarded Federal
Work Study based on their unmet
need,
which is determine by the FAFSA application. Students participating in
the program are paid bi-weekly and the starting salary is $6.50 to
$8.50
an hour. However, the starting salary for students who participate off
campus in the America
Read
program is $8.50 an hour. FWS students are allowed to work up to
20 hours a week on campus or off campus.
Community Service Jobs (America Reads)
Students will work in local elementary schools as
reading and math
tutors as well as in middle and high schools. Due to the importance of
obtaining only top-notch reliable students, a recommendation letter
from
a professor within the student's program of study is required. Starting
salary for community service work study students is $8.50 an hour.

At the beginning of each academic year, the Work
Study
Coordinator
will provide a list of eligible students. All students will be notified
via e-mail when their eligibility has been determined.

her
FAFSA.(first-come, first-serve)
- Students who are currently receiving FWS funds will
have first
priority in the selection process in the upcoming academic year.
Student Responsibility
If a student is chosen to participate in the FWS
program, the
student must complete an interview form each semester. Students must
submit a copy of their Driver License and Social Security Card to the
Human Resource Department upon being hired by the respective
department.
Once a student has been awarded FWS, they may locate jobs on campus by
visiting the Career & Counseling Center.
