How to Log onto
Banner Web Financial Aid
- Go to SPSU home page at www.spsu.edu
- Click on the “Banner Web” link on the left side of
the page
- Click “Login”
- Enter Student ID and PIN –
- Your Student ID can be found by clicking “ID
Lookup Form”
- Your PIN is originally set to your birthday
(MMDDYY).
- You should change your PIN immediately (please
remember your new PIN).
- Click “Student Services & Financial Aid”
- Click “Financial Aid”
Accepting or
Adjusting Your Award
- Click “Financial Aid Award Letter”
- Click “Yes,” then click “Submit”
- Select a term (ex. Fall 2008 or 200808), then
- click “Submit”
- Select the appropriate aid year (ex. 2008-2009),
- then click “Submit”
Accept Award Letter – If you wish to accept the award
letter as is, click “Accept/Adjust Award Letter.” You will then need to
choose a lender from the “Preferred Lender” drop-down box if you are
taking out a loan, and click “Submit Choice.”
If this is your first time taking out a student loan
with SPSU, you will need to sign a Master Promissory Note and go
through pre-loan entrance counseling. Follow the directions shown on
the Web page by clicking on Stafford
Loan Entrance Counseling to begin the process.
If you wish to adjust your award, go through the process
of accepting your award (see above); however, before you click on the
“Submit Choice” after selecting your lender
from the “Preferred Lender” drop-down, complete the “Comment Box” with
instructions for how you want us to adjust your award.
Examples:
“I want to accept the subsidized loan and decline the unsubsidized
loan”
“I want to decline all loans”
“I would like to be evaluated for HOPE” (or Federal
Work-Study or any other type of aid you were not offered but feel you
are qualified for)
“I only want to accept $XXX of the subsidized loan”
… and so on. Just tell us what you want us to do. If we
can legally follow your instructions, we will.
Satisfactory
Academic Progress (SAP)
You can view your financial aid academic progress to
determine if you are eligible to receive financial aid.
- Log onto Banner Web
- Click “Student Services & Financial Aid”
- Click “Financial Aid”
- Click “My Eligibility”
- Click “Academic Progress”
Making Satisfactory
Academic Progress (SAP) – You are eligible to receive financial
aid.
SAP Probation –
You may receive financial aid for up to one more award year. If you
have not brought your status back to Making SAP by the end of the
upcoming Spring term you will be ineligible to receive further
financial aid.
Failing SAP Standards
– You will not be eligible to receive aid.
If you are Failing SAP Standards you may file an appeal IF you have
extenuating circumstances. The SAP Appeal form may be found at file:///W:/Award%20Guide/www.spsu.edu/finaid/aidforms.html.
The appeal form and all supporting documentation you wish to submit
must be presented to the financial aid office for review by the
director. An e-mail will be sent to your SPSU E-Mail address informing
you of his decision, usually within 2-3 days of receipt of the appeal.
Review
Financial Aid Holds
You can view all outstanding documentation and holds online by
following these directions:
- Log onto Banner Web
- Click “Student Services & Financial Aid”
- Click “Financial Aid”
- Click “My Eligibility”
- Click “Holds”
- Select the Aid Year (ex. 2008-2009)
Outstanding Documents and Holds – must be cleared before financial aid
can be offered.
Verification
Information
- Log on to Banner Web
- Click “Student Services & Financial Aid”
- Click “Financial Aid”
- Click “My Eligibility”
- Click “Student Requirements”
- Select the Aid Year (ex. 2008-2009)
- Click on the link for the “Verification Form” and
print
Complete the Verification Form and provide the form and
all other documents requested on this web page to the financial aid
office. More information about the Verification process can be found at

Check
Aid Status
You can view your overall status, financial awards, financial aid
history and account summary:
- Log on to Banner Web
- Click “Student Services & Financial Aid”
- Click “Financial Aid”
- Click “Account Summary by Term”
