Accepting or Adjusting Your Award

  • Click “Financial Aid Award Letter”
  • Click “Yes,” then click “Submit”
  • Select a term (ex. Fall 2008 or 200808), then
  • click “Submit”
  • Select the appropriate aid year (ex. 2008-2009),

Accept Award Letter – If you wish to accept the award letter as is, click “Accept/Adjust Award Letter.” You will then need to choose a lender from the “Preferred Lender” drop-down box if you are taking out a loan, and click “Submit Choice.”

If this is your first time taking out a student loan with SPSU, you will need to sign a Master Promissory Note and go through pre-loan entrance counseling. Follow the directions shown on the Web page by clicking on Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling to begin the process.

If you wish to adjust your award, go through the process of accepting your award (see above); however, before you click on the “Submit Choice” after selecting your lender
from the “Preferred Lender” drop-down, complete the “Comment Box” with instructions for how you want us to adjust your award.

Examples:
“I want to accept the subsidized loan and decline the unsubsidized loan”

“I want to decline all loans”

“I would like to be evaluated for HOPE” (or Federal Work-Study or any other type of aid you were not offered but feel you are qualified for)

“I only want to accept $XXX of the subsidized loan”

… and so on. Just tell us what you want us to do. If we can legally follow your instructions, we will.
