Sheltering In Place
As a result of a threat to the campus community (at large), the need for the University Police to communicate a Shelter in Place message may become necessary.
A Shelter in Place message is an emergency procedure intended to secure and protect building occupants who are in the proximity of an immediate threat.
This procedure is used when it may be more dangerous to evacuate a building than stay inside. By controlling entry/exit and movement within a facility, emergency responders are better able to provide life safety services to the campus.
