Zimbra Introduction

Learn the basics of Zimbra including sharing calendars, folders and contact lists. Discover how to use filters to redirect mail to others, and to folders within your own account. Explore preferences and options to customize your Zimbra experience including themes, signatures and personas.

Using Classroom Technology

Location: CTE Computer Classroom Prerequisites: None

This workshop includes instruction in the basics classrooms technology including projectors, DVD players, computers, and document cameras. The session also will cover the controls for rooms in various configurations. Troubleshooting tips such as: how to manually work or reboot some of the equipment, what to do if there is no signal getting to the projector, how to check the cables in the wall, alternatives to the DVD/VHS player if they aren’t working, who to call and how to place a ticket with the helpdesk.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe how to operate classroom controls, choose different outputs, use VLC to play a DVD, and use the document camera.
  • Recognize the VGA and HDMI connections, what cables are required for a standard laptop connection, cables required for connecting a IPad, and connections required for network connectivity.
  • Describe and interpret issues like low volume, DVD player not showing on the projector, Docam not showing on the projector, computer is locked up, no sound, and USB device no being recognized.
  • Compose a helpdesk ticket, describe the issue, collect all the helpful information, and close the ticket once a resolution has been achieved.

GoToTraining Introduction

Location: CTE Computer Classroom Prerequisites: None

This workshop reviews GotoTraining and how to use it in the classroom as a synchronous and hybrid tool for online teaching environments. Learn how to set up an account, make a class, use the GotoTraining interface, record, and post your class to the digital media server. The session includes tips and tricks that you can use in your GotoTraining sessions to make them more enjoyable for you and your students.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe how to sign up for an account, log in to www.GotoTraining.com , create a class, start a class, record a class, and upload the recording to the media server.
  • Create a poll, a test, recording of the class, group, and a report of class use.
  • Discover tips and tricks for use of GotoTraining and your software.
