Social Media and the Academic: Uses in the Classroom, Branding Your Research

This workshop is designed to allow faculty to hear how colleagues have been able to incorporate social media into classroom pedagogy as well as utilize certain types of social media in order to establish an online presence for research agendas.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the benefits of social media as an academic
  • Use skills to incorporate social media into classroom pedagogy
  • Use skills to establish a brand identity for scholarly research and for courses

Elements of Voice Recording

This workshop is designed to give faculty the basics for recording for courses. Tips with diction when recording as well as resources for recording on campus will be provided.

*Part 2: Initiating Difficult Conversations with Students: Advising Students will be offered in Spring 2014

Learning Outcomes:

  • Evaluate how our conversational speech potentially impacts recordings
  • Discuss elements of voice delivery
  • Determine the proper distance for using a microphone.
  • Learn what are the resources available for voice recording on campus
