Chemistry has long been held as one of the most important fields in science as it is the study of all that is around us at the smallest level; the building blocks of the world. As such, an adequate grasp of the general concepts of chemistry is crucial to all science majors.The study of chemistry ranges from physical chemistry where students study chemistry at the smallest scale, to organic chemistry where students explore the science of nature as we know it.

Here at SPSU, the chemistry department aims to equip students of all majors with the understanding of chemistry needed to succeed in the scientific world. With a wide variety of courses including classes in organic, physical, inorganic, and analytical chemistry taught by some of the most qualified professors in the country, any and all students can feed their curiosity of chemistry here.

The Chemistry program at SPSU is housed within the Department of Biology and Chemistry in the Crawford Lab.
