The SPSU Chemistry Program collaborates with the SPSUTeach program to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry with secondary teacher certification that will also certify graduates to teach chemistry in 6th - 12th grade. Science teachers are in high demand; 40-60 new science teachers are hired every year in Cobb County alone! This program requires students to take most of the standard chemistry classes required for the BS in Chemistry, plus 29 hours of education classes offered by the SPSUTeach program (120 hours total for degree). Graduates with this degree are certified to teach 6th-12th grade chemistry with no need to obtain a separate education degree. Students with this degree are very competitive when looking for employment.
