POLICIES AND RECOMMENDED PRACTICES
No Show Policy
If you are not going to be able to attend a scheduled interview please contact the Career and Counseling Center (678.915.7391) as soon as possible. To avoid being considered a "no-show" we must hear from you no later than 8:00 a.m. the morning of the interview. If possible you should contact us earlier so we can try to fill the vacant interview time.
- 1st interview no-show - You must send a letter of apology to the company and a copy to our office.
- 2nd interview no-show - You are not allowed to use Career Services for the rest of the semester.
Statement of Recommended Practices
(The Candidate Perspective):
The following list of recommended practices is intended to provide a framework for the professional relationships among colleges, employers and students involved in the career planning and recruitment processes.

Honor the policies and procedures of Southern Polytechnic State University and its Career and Counseling Center
- Interview only when sincerely interested in a position with the employer.
Unacceptable: Interviewing for practice with an employer conducting on-campus interviews.
- Provide accurate information on your qualifications and interests.
Unacceptable: Falsifying data such as GPA, graduation date, major/minor, institutions attended, and work eligibility (e.g., citizenship status).

Acknowledge invitations for company visits promptly, whether you accept or reject them.

If your interview involves travel, discuss with the recruiter what costs the employer will cover for the on-site visit and verify all arrangements in advance, including travel plans and schedules, car rental, room and meal accommodations and any entertainment allowance.

Discuss offers with employers to verify terms and reach mutually acceptable response deadlines.

Request extensions from employers if you need more time to consider offers.
- Notify employers that you are accepting or rejecting an offer as soon as you make your decision and no later than the arranged date. Respond to every offer, whether you accept or reject it.
Unacceptable: Continuing to interview after accepting an offer; reneging on an accepted offer.
Upon Acceptance of a Job Offer:

Notify the Career and Counseling Center immediately to withdraw from future interviews

Immediately notify other employers with offers pending

Honor your acceptance of the offer as a contractual agreement with the employer
