Co-op Eligibility RequirementsCo-op Eligibility Requirements
Students who wish to participate in the co-op program must meet with the co-op coordinator
and register their co-op before going to work. Students cannot register a co-op after they have begun working.
UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Enrolled full-time (12 hrs.) during Fall & Spring semesters or part-time (6 hrs.)
during Summer semester
- Must have declared a major
- Possess 2.0 GPA or higher
- Complete 24 semester hours toward a degree; transfer hours count
- Transfer students and freshmen entering with 24+ credit hours must complete one semester
at SPSU and have an SPSU GPA.
- Have at least three semesters remaining after the first work term
- Commit to work three alternating work periods with the same employer
GRADUATE STUDENTS
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Enrolled full-time (8 hrs.) during Fall & Spring semesters or (6 hrs.) during Summer
semester
- Complete 9 credit hours in graduate program
- Possess 3.0 GPA or higher
- Have at least two semesters remaining after the first work term.
- Commit to work two alternating work periods with the same employer
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Because of the full-time work requirement, international students with restricted
work authorization cannot participate in the SPSU Co-op Program, but are encouraged
to participate in the SPSU Internship Program. Before beginning your internship search,
please review the CPT guidelines on the International Student Services page and meet with Julie Sharpe, Coordinator of International Student Services.

Must complete and sign the Co-op Application & Applicant Agreement forms

Must register in the Career Link jobs database and upload a current resume (resume has to be approved)

Must abide by all Cooperative Education guidelines
