January 22, 2009 - China Trip Meeting 

 

·        Everyone needs to have a passport and Visa for the trip.

·        You need to have your birth certificate, Identification Card, and 2 passport size photos to apply for a passport. The process takes a long time so apply as soon as possible.

·        Get 4 pictures done if you need to get both passport and Visa.

·        The trip will be roughly from May 10 – May 24. Days will vary due to the transportation timing of flight.

·        This course will be called International Management. It is 3 credit hour course. There are no textbook or prerequisites for this course. A special topic course will be created for the students who have already taken the international management course.

·        Students will attend couple of classes before the trip. They will learn more about the trip, how and what to pack, and other additional information.

·        Since this trip will be held during the end of first 8 week and beginning of second 8 week summer semester, BA and non-BA professors will accommodate the students who will be participating on this trip.

·        The cost of this trip is roughly $2000. This covers $1400 for the airfare. $500 for room and board, tours, and food. $100 for visa processing fee.

·        The student will pay for this course. Extended University will sign up students for this trip.

·        China is cash based country. Students can take their ATM cards and get cash from the airport.

·        The flight to China is very long. There will be a layover at one place.

·        Students will be staying in NCUT housing. Each room has double occupancy. There is a curfew. Food will be available at the campus café. Students will also attend classes. They will learn about Chinese culture, economy, and business culture.

·        Students will visit Great Wall, Summer Palace, cultural events, opera, marketplaces, and manufacture facility. There will be an interpreter during the outings. 

·        Cell phones will not work in China. Students can purchase a SIM card from the airport.

·        Students have to write a report when they return.
