Minors in Business Areas

The following business minors are offered to provide unique opportunities in diverse areas of business for undergraduate students in business or other majors.

Business Administration Minor

Students wishing to receive a minor in Business Administration must take ACCT 2101, MGNT 3105, and three additional business courses, two of which must be upper division. Additionally accounting courses may not be used for the business minor. Students majoring in Accounting are not eligible for the minor in Business Administration.

Entrepreneurship Minor

Students who wish to receive a minor in Entrepreneurship must take the following courses:

  • ACCT 2101 Accounting I
  • MGNT 3105 Management and Organizational Behavior
  • MGNT 3135 Principles of Marketing
  • MGNT 3170 Leadership
  • MGNT 3120 Entrepreneurial Finance
    Note: (MGNT 3125 Business Finance may not be substituted)
  • MGNT 4190 Entrepreneurship

Finance Minor

Students who wish to receive a minor in Finance must take MGNT 3125 Business Finance and twelve hours of finance electives. These include, but are not limited to the following courses:

  • MGNT 3120 Entrepreneurial Finance
  • MGNT 3231 Management of Financial Institutions
  • MGNT 4232 Financial Planning and Capital Budgeting
  • MGNT 4233 Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management
  • MGNT 4234 International Finance

International Business Minor

Students who wish to receive a minor in International Business are required to take the eight courses listed below.

The minor in International Business consists of the following eight courses:

  • ACCT 2101 Accounting I
  • MGNT 3105 Management and Organizational Behavior
  • MGNT 3125 Business Finance
  • MGNT 3135 Marketing Principles
  • MGNT 4145 International Management
  • SIS 400x Regional Studies
  • POLS 4301 International Political Economy
  • SPAN 2002 Elementary Spanish II or any language at equal level

Management Minor

Students who wish to receive a minor in Management must take MGNT 3105 Management and Organizational Behavior, MGNT 3170 Leadership, and three addition management courses from the following list:

  • MGNT 4100 Business Systems Analysis and Design
  • MGNT 4103 Marketing Management
  • MGNT 4185 Technology Management
  • MGNT 4190 Entrepreneurship
  • MGNT 4195 Current Readings in Management of Technology

Marketing Minor

Students who wish to receive a minor in Marketing must take MGNT 3135 Principles of Marketing and four additional marketing electives. These include, but are not limited to the following courses:

  • MGNT 3210 Professional Selling
  • MGNT 3224 Business Marketing
  • MGNT 3228 Market Research and Demand
  • MGNT 4103 Marketing Management

Management Information Systems Minor

Students who wish to receive a minor in Management Information Systems are required to take the following courses:

  • TCOM 3400 Foundations Design for the Web

Students who wish to receive a minor in Management of Operations and Technology must take the following courses:
