Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
ECON 2107

What is ECON 2107?

ECON 2107 is a special version of ECON 1101 that includes content on finance to meet the accreditation requirements of the Engineering programs and some of the Engineering Technology programs. It fulfills your core requirements in area E3.

Why must I complete a course substitution to use ECON 2107 in area E3?

For technical reasons that are not important to you. We are working to remove this requirement but it exists for now.

Can I take ECON 1101 instead of ECON 2107?

We do not make this decision, your department does. See your Departmental adviser or Department Chair for more information. Typically, they do not approve this substitution.

Can I substitute ECON 2105 or ECON 2106 for ECON 2107?

We routinely substitute ECON 2105 or ECON 2106 for ECON 1101 for non-Engineering students. However, for Engineering and Engineering Technology, we do not make this decision, your department does. See your Departmental adviser or Department Chair for more information. Typically, they do not approve this substitution.

Can I transfer in ECON 2105 or ECON 2106 as ECON 2107?

No.

If my Department approves me substituting ECON 1101 (or ECON 2105 or ECON 2106) for ECON 2107, what do I need to do?

Complete a course substitution form. It must first be approved by your adviser and Department Chair to indicate that they have approved it. It then comes to me to sign. I will not sign it first since this is a decision your Department must make.
