The meeting was called to order at 12:05 PM by Moderator Rich Bennett.

1. The Bylaws of the School of Arts & Sciences (Working Document (2001-2002)) were passed as amended.
|

|
2. Elections were held, with the following results*:
|
| |
- James Whitenton was elected as Arts & Sciences representative to the Student Status Committee.
|
- Tom Wiseman was elected as Arts representative to the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee.
|
- When the ballots were counted for the Sciences representative to the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, the balloteers discovered that despite verbal and written instructions, more ballots were completed improperly than properly. The balloteers decided to call a revote by email.

3. The following motion was passed: That the Moderator of the Faculty of the School of Arts & Sciences be charged by the Faculty to inform Chief Information Officer, Bill Gruzka, of our concerns and request that Mr. Gruszka meet with the Arts & Sciences Faculty to provide information concerning the specifics of the proposed changes in Information Technology services.

- Charlie Weeks announced an upcoming presentation by Dr. Richard Bennett entitled "ISLAM AND THE CURRENT WORLD CRISIS." This presentation will be held on Friday, September 28, at 12:00 noon in H-200.

- Julie Newell announced two Interface lectures: "Water in Georgia", Monday, October 1 in the Student Center Ballroom at 7:30 pm, by James E. Kundell, Ph.D., Director, River Basin Science and Policy Center, University of Georgia. "Water in the Middle East", Monday, October 29, 2001, Student Center Ballroom at Noon by Dona J. Stewart, PhD, Department of Anthropology and Geography, Georgia State University.
