  Minutes of the Aug. 13, 2001 Meeting:

The meeting was called to order by Richard Bennett, Moderator, at 2:45 PM.

New faculty were introduced by their respective Program Heads.

Acting Dean Gabrielli introduced Bill Strickland (wstrickl@spsu.edu), the newly-hired A&S Computer Services Specialist.

Pat Garrett introduced her new staff, and she commented on fundraising and the upcoming University website revamp.

Dr. Bennett announced that the A&S bylaws need to be restructured. He will ask Program Heads for volunteers for the A&S bylaw committee next week.

Acting Dean Gabrielli commented on the following: A&S bylaws, A&S Dean search, Travel money, annual evaluations, procedure modifications, promotion and tenure, sick leave, the Enhancement Team Visit, and Dean and Program Head job descriptions.

Announcements:

• The Language Lab is almost ready. There will be an open house.
• The physics labs will be remodeled this millenium.
• September 12 is the first day of Spanish Heritage month.

Meeting adjourned at 3:45 PM.
