Gilman International Scholarships Competition
The Gilman Scholarships enable students who have limited financial means
the opportunity to participate in undergraduate study abroad programs
worldwide. It is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of
Educational and Cultural Affairs, and administered by the Institute of
International Education. The deadline for the Fall 2005 cycle is April 4,

U.S.-Mexico Training, Internships, Exchanges and Scholarships
Initiative (TIES)
The Association Liaison Office for Cooperation in Development (ALO) has
announced a special request for applications (RFA) for the U.S.-Mexico
Training, Internships, Exchanges and Scholarships Initiative. ALO
anticipates recommending approximately ten applications for awards in the
areas of Rural and Micro-finance, Democracy, Environment, Rural
Prosperity for Small-Scale Producers, and Health. The deadline for receipt

Pilot Program for Internet-Based Long-Term Professional
Development of Education Policy-Makers and Administrators
The Association Liaison Office for Cooperation in Development (ALO) has
announced a special request for applications (RFA) for technical
assistance from a U.S. institution to develop a pilot program for
internet-based long-term professional development of education
policy-makers and administrators in Ethiopi, Ghana and/or Uganda. ALO
will make one award of up to $430,250 for an approximately five-year
period to provide on-line training leading to professional certification.

2005 Goldman Sachs Foundation Prizes
The Goldman Sachs Foundation will award five $25,000 Prizes for
Excellence in International Education to schools, higher education
institutions,states, and media/technology organizations that are working to
"put the world into world-class education." The Higher Education Prize will
recognize a higher education institution that shows exceptional commitment
to promoting K-16 international knowledge through its teacher preparation
program or through ongoing partnerships with local schools to introduce
international content. The application deadline is May 10, 2005. Full
