As we enter the final phase of planning for summer 2005 EC Study

Abroad Programs, it is also time to encourage faculty members to

submit applications for the summer 2006 study abroad programs.

Because it is a busy time for everyone, it is easy to let the

deadline--April 15 (a hard date to forget!)--slide by. Last year, many

faculty who were interested failed to submit applications, and as a

consequence, many institutions had no faculty members teaching in the

European Council programs.

Please remind your faculty that if they are interested in teaching in

summer 2006 programs, now is the time to put their applications

together.  Applications are submitted electronically and the forms are

available on the EC web page:  www.valdosta.edu/europeancouncil.

Applications should be submitted  electronically, to the European

Council. A single paper copy of the application, with the completed

signature page, is mailed to the European Council.

This year, we suffered from a lack of faculty and institutional

diversity.  I hope that we will be able to encourage more faculty from

a breadth of institutions to join in the European Council's exciting

opportunities for teaching in Europe.
