Student Organizations

Though Southern Polytechnic State University students are very serious about their studies and their coursework is demanding, most find time to participate in leisure activities. Generally speaking, a student may join an organization by merely expressing interest either by contacting a group member or by attending a meeting. All students are encouraged to participate according to their interest and available time. Studies show that those students who participate in extracurricular activities have better GPA's, a higher graduation rate, and a much higher appreciation and enjoyment of their college experience.

The following student organizations are currently active on the SPSU campus:

Student Government Organization (SGA)

The Student Government Association (SGA) at Southern Polytechnic State University has traditionally played an important role in student life. Each Spring, campus-wide elections are held to elect the President, Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer, and the 10 Student Council members. The Student Government represents the student body on important campus issues, annually allocates over $350,000 in student activity fees, and has members assigned to various committees of the institution. The SGA, through its various committees and projects, provides an excellent leadership opportunity for interested students.
