Evaluation of Senior Administrators

 

Overview

This P&P includes the following main sections:

  • Background
  • Evaluation process

Background

  • All senior administrators of the university are evaluated annually as part of the regular personnel review process.

  • To provide information for this process and to offer constructive feedback to these administrators, opinions are invited from a broad cross-section of the university community.

Evaluation Process

The process will be as follows:

Process Description

 

 

1.

During the third week of March, the evaluations will take place for president, vice presidents, executive directors, CIO, and executive assistant to the president. The coordinator of planning and assessment will send out the evaluation forms to all participants.

 

 

2.

All completed evaluation forms will be returned to the coordinator of planning and assessment by the end of the first week of April.

 

 

3.

Review of the president

All of the following group of people will be invited to provide feedback and input for the review of the president:

  • Vice presidents
  • Executive directors
  • CIO
  • Assistant vice-presidents
  • Deans
  • Administrative directors
  • Assistants to the president
  • Members of the Faculty Senate and Staff Council

Review of the senior staff

All vice presidents will receive evaluations from their own units and from cross functional groups.

Evaluation for vice president for academic affairs
The following groups will be invited to provide evaluations of the vice president of academic affairs:

Unit Evaluating Members
Unit Evaluation The following employees in Academic Affairs: assistant vice president for academic affairs, deans, program heads, directors reporting to the vice president for academic affairs, members of the Faculty Senate
 
Cross Functional Evaluation The following employees outside of Academic Affairs: all vice presidents, directors, and assistant vice presidents, along with the Staff Council

Evaluations for other vice presidents, executive directors, CIO, executive assistant to the president, and any other members of the senior staff

Unit Evaluating Members
Unit Evaluation
  • Vice presidents and other senior administrators who have fewer than 50 permanent full-time employees will be evaluated by all of their employees.
  • Vice presidents who have 50 or more permanent full-time employees will be evaluated by all levels of supervisors in their division.
 
Cross Functional Evaluation The following group of people will be invited to evaluate senior administrators outside of Academic Affairs:
  • All vice presidents and senior administrators (outside of the one being evaluated)
  • Assistant vice presidents (outside of the unit being evaluated),
  • Deans
  • Directors (outside of the directors reporting to the vice president being evaluated)
  • Members of the Faculty Senate and Staff Council
 

 

4.

  • The originals of the completed forms for each administrative member will be sent to the respective administrators--with a copy to the president--by the beginning of the second week of April.

  • The originals of the completed forms for the president will be sent to the president--with a copy sent to the chancellor--using the same time frame as noted above.
