PRESENT: Bill Barnes,
Dick Aynsley, Joel Fowler, Alan Gabrielli, Mike Murphy, Sandy Pfeiffer,
Dawn Ramsey, Judy Waits
VISITOR: Bill Gruszka
1. Governor's Teaching
Fellows:
Deans are to send nominations
to Pfeiffer via email by Friday, December 14, 2001. Pfeiffer will inform
deans of his selections.
2. Non-tenure Track Faculty:
Early next term Pfeiffer
will clarify what constitutes non-tenure track positions and whom we are
recommending for these positions.
3. Budget:
Fowler will talk to Whitaker
about the budget and bottom lines. More information will be available to
deans in January.
4. SPSU and IT:
Gruszka gave an update on
his plans and thinking regarding SPSU and Information Technology. He has
spoken to all IT support staff around campus and is getting a feel for
the type of system SPSU needs. He wants to improve customer service across
campus, have all techs working collaboratively, and upgrade the helpdesk.
Before he gives his final proposal to the president in February/March,
he will discuss it with the Deans Council.
5. BAS Option:
Pfeiffer reported that Ken
Allen and Pat Garrett talked to him about Allen's interest in helping to
market the BAS degree. After much discussion, the group decided it could
support Allen's interest in increasing SPSU's enrollment by marketing the
currently approved BAS degree. (The degree is described in the SPSU Catalog.)
6. RFPs and Requests
for Proposals:
David Stone's CIT office
on the first floor of Building J will be the repository for conference
announcements and various requests for proposals that concern faculty-until
the Teaching and Learning Center opens next fall. Ramsey will send an announcement
to Academic Affairs.
