PRESENT: Bill Barnes, Dick Aynsley, Alan Gabrielli, Mike Murphy, Sandy Pfeiffer, Dawn Ramsey, Judy Waits, Steve Hamrick
 
 
1. Proposal Information Guide:
Ramsey handed out the Grant Development Center's Proposal Information Guide for review by the deans.
 
2. Department Chair Training:
Pfeiffer read a memo from the BoR requesting up to four nominations (one from each school) for department chair training in March. There is a January 17th deadline. Hamrick is coordinating the nominations and will notify the BoR. Academic Affairs will cover expenses.
 
3. Center for Teaching Excellence:
Pfeiffer noted that the CTE will be the repository for calls for papers for faculty conferences of all kinds, but especially those dealing with teaching.
 
4. Advising Program Draft:
Jeff Orr prepared a draft of the SPSU academic advising expectations. Deans are to review it and send their suggestions to Pfeiffer by the end of the day, December 13.
 
5. Academic Plan:
Pfeiffer and the deans discussed what degrees will be generated over a ten-year span, in preparation for producing a draft of a revised Academic Plan to be distributed to faculty early next term.
 
NOTE:
There will not be a Deans Council meeting the week of December 16-20.
