PRESENT: Bill Barnes,
Alan Gabrielli, Sandy Pfeiffer, Dawn Ramsey, Judy Waits, Steve Hamrick
ABSENT: Dick Aynsley,
Mike Murphy
1. BOR Changes:
The chancellor sent the
president a memo regarding BoR reorganization after Dan Papp leaves. Frank
Butler will be the new interim senior vice chancellor for academic affairs
after the November meeting. Bill Bowes will report directly to the Chancellor.
2. Bauhaus Legacy:
Barnes stated that the Bauhaus
symposium was extremely successful. The Chinese professors were carrying
back a collaborative proposal to China for a 10-week summer program.
3. Faculty Forum:
The deans discussed the
various summer pay options that will be presented to the faculty at the
forum on Thursday, October 31, 2002.
4. Statutes:
Deans are to send any comments
they have about the draft statutes to Becky Rutherfoord with a copy to
Pfeiffer. Hamrick is to look at the statutes as well.
5. Distance Learning:
Ramsey prepared an inventory
of the Smart Classrooms, which will be updated annually. She also had a
printout from the BOR on distance education courses. It appears that not
all of the distance learning courses are being accurately coded. It was
suggested that David Stone meet with Hamrick to discuss reporting codes
for distance education.
6. Signage on Campus:
It was noted that the new
signs on campus appear to be for walking level only and not readable from
the car. Also, it was suggested that building letters be added to the signs.
Ramsey is to contact Anton Kashiri to talk on the deans' behalf about the
signs.
7. Reorganization:
Deans asked Pfeiffer about
the timing of the reorganization "tweaking." He said he will prepare a
draft to go to the president after faculty approval this term.
