1. Program Reviews:
Pfeiffer indicated that
program reviews would take a lot of time this year.
2. Viable Academic Programs
(Rock #1):
Pfeiffer handed out a draft
of the part of the strategic plan called Viable Academic Programs (Big
Rock #1). The deans suggested modifications that Pfeiffer will incorporate
into the draft. The Expanded Cabinet will discuss all five Big Rocks at
its meeting next week, followed by forum discussions of the drafts among
faculty and staff.
3. Centers and Institutes:
Pfeiffer asked for a list
of anything labeled "center" or "institute" here at SPSU. Dan Papp has
requested the list. The following were noted: CIT, CQE, CTE, Construction
Education Center (inactive), Advising Center (ATTIC), GYSTC, Wellness Center,
Grant Development Center, Software Center, Usability Center. Deans are
to send Pfeiffer any others by week's end.
4. GYSTC Search Committee:
Gabrielli has agreed to
be on the GYSTC CEO search committee.
5. Office of Advancement:
Hamrick will contact Lynn
Murray about naming opportunities within the university. Also, he will
convey the deans' wish that they would like to be kept informed of contacts
the Office of Advancement makes with outside people/organizations. It was
suggested that members of that Office visit the Deans Council periodically
to brief deans about their contacts.
6. P&Ps:
Pfeiffer has received several
P&Ps that the president has approved or asked to be revised. They will
be placed on the web and SPSU personnel will be notified.
7. Faculty Senate:
The Senate is focusing on
three issues this year: Statutes-Information-Reorganization review. Among
other items, the deans discussed the need for the Faculty Senate to move
quickly on Statutes and remaining P&Ps for critical processes. Important
P&Ps remain in he pipeline.
